This year, I’m setting up new rules for myself when it comes to shopping. While my main goal is to build a closet of great basics, I love having fun with fashion too! One of my new rules for buying trendy items is if I can’t find at least 3 ways to style something, I can’t buy it.
With the seasons changing, I am finding new ways to style my warm weather pieces for winter. It doesn’t get unbearably cold here in LA so winter layering is very simple. One of my current favorite pieces to style is the slip dress.
This slinky style dress comes in a variety of lengths and patterns. I chose a printed style because it brings a fun vibe to my mostly solid wardrobe. Below I’m sharing 4 tips on how to wear a slip dress in winter.
4 Tips on How to Wear A Slip Dress in Winter
1. Add a Leather Jacket
I feel like this is my go-to tip for any layered looks. I love adding a moto jacket to more feminine cut pieces to give it an edgier vibe.
2. Add a turtleneck under
The great thing about the loose fit of a slip dress is that you can layer underneath it too! I chose a turtleneck for a sleek classic look. You can also pair it with a button up shirt or t-shirt underneath. If you chose a solid slip dress, you can add a printed top underneath for a chic look.
3. Add a chunky sweater
For a more casual look, throw a chunky sweater over your slip dress. This is the perfect cozy piece for winter. I love how a pullover sweater changes the whole look of the dress. You can also style it with a cardigan too!
4. Add a bottom layer
Since it isn’t freezing where I live, My bottom layer of choice is over the knee boots. If you live in cooler weather you can pair it with printed leggings and boots. I’ve seen it styled over jeans too! You can see more inspo on Pinterest HERE.
*Bonus Tip*: Don’t forget to add accessories! A hat, scarf or jewelry will really pull the look together.
